I am Kohle, and some of the artists I’ve worked with during my 20 or so years in the industry include Powerwolf, Aborted, Crematory and Eskimo Callboy.
Most of the audio education out there focuses on the technical side of things (engineering, mixing, mastering, and so forth), but in this Fast Track I’m going to be talking about something just as important but rarely discussed: communication.
There are many technical and creative challenges in any session, but unless you are recording your own solo project, oftentimes the biggest challenge is dealing with the many personalities, opinions, demands and ideas involved– the human side of the equation.
So, in this Fast Track I’m going to outline my approach for communication with your clients, drawing on all my years of experience and the many lessons I learned. I’ll cover how to prepare, how to define your vision and sell it to your clients, how to make deals, and how to actually guide them through the session once you’re in the studio.
